Stan’s
comments for the week….
|
|
Hi Madsters, It has been a long
hard season with records beaten and teams well beaten. Congratulations to all
for gaining the elusive 50% win rate for the first time in MAD history. And congratulations
to those who endured the highs and lows of the mind bending challenge that is
MAD Fantasy Cricket. The final game
bought many interesting statistics. It is a story of ups and downs resulting
with an incredible twisting tale - a story which I will take great pleasure
in telling all. Top points scorer in
the game last Sunday was again the Golden Child (who narrowly missed out on
the fine for looking younger than the last time he top scored) with 105
points (remember who the only player with Gary in his team is?) Points were
otherwise evenly distributed amongst the others with an excellent all round
performance: Gary
Littlechild - 105 Dan Edwards -
32 Adrian Small -
30 Ian Howarth -
30 Steve Dobner -
27 Manager's points
were less evenly spread. Gary making a substitution for the first time in the
whole season (and we know what that means) tried to ensure leadership by
buying in David Shorten at short notice only to see the up and coming
younster return zero points. Managers previously looked down upon for wrong
sub decisions managed to rack up a magical top points score for the second
week running a clear 71 points clear of the pack: James -
169 Jake -
80 Geoff -
79 Ian -
66 Stevie D -
62 Stevie P -
53 Martin -
52 Ant -
41 Andrew -
41 Matt -
41 Nick -
41 So what does that do
to the Leaderboard I hear you all cry "What does that do to the
Leaderboard?" Well in fourth place
in the money is Stevie P on 1,759
points In third place in
the money and making a rash move up table is Jake on 1,782 points In second place,
being shifted down one position is Which means in First
place, and leader of the board is James on 1,810
points! FIX FIX I hear you
all cry "FIX FIX!!!" But wait, updates
coming in from Fantasy central reveal the additional bonus points to be taken
into consideration. If you cast you pens back to the rules of the game, those
players who get a batting average of over 25 or a bowling average of under 15
will recieve 50 points for each goal. This will be applied
to the initial team of the season from each Manager. Bonus point scored
by MAD players for the 2006 Season were thus: BATTING Dan Ian Martin BOWLING Dan Steve Ian Mike Thus, after bonuses
are applied the Leaderboard the FINAL standings for MAD Fantasy Cricket 2006
are: 4th place (winning
£5.05) Martin on 1,926 points (200 bonus points) 3rd place (winning
£15.15) James on 2,010 points (200 bonus points) 2nd place (winning
£30.30) Jake on 2,032 points (250 bonus points dammit ;) 1st place (winning
£50.50) (Not that I'm
bitter) Actually not at all, for it has been a thoroughly
enjoyable Fantasy season and I look forward to an interesting comp next year

What Stan has decreed….
|
|
After careful statistical analyses I have calculated the total
number of points earned in the 2004 and 2005 seasons by each player. Note
these costs are based on performance over the last two years but NOT counting
drops, ducks, or bonuses (due to incomplete data) I have taken this past performance and equated this to a cost
for each player (in pints of Snatch) so each players worth is relevant to
their performance over the past two years. I have divided the players up into Four POOLS (keeping to MAD
tradition) To select your team, you must choose: TWO Players from Pool A TWO Players from Pool B TWO Players from the NEW Players Pool ONE Player from the Non Regular Players Pool Maximum 10 transfers during season (cost is 50 pence each). Tie Breaker: What will
be the highest 5th wicket stand all season? Cost may equal but must not EXCEED 100 pints of Snatch. Please find attached spreadsheet of past totals and Costs (in
pints of Snatch) per player. If you would like to join in this latest addition to MAD
ethos, entry will be £5. The monies collected will be awarded to the winners as
follows: Updates, of course will be sent out on a regular basis
following each match, probably via the website. Any questions, please ask... Stan. |
